Looking for and finding the right psychotherapist/counselor can be a daunting task. All of the therapists registered with OPC Referral Network are either graduates or senior students in supervision from the Ontario Psychotherapy and Counseling Program. We encourage all potential clients to read the OPC website so they have some knowledge of the skill and expertise of both the senior students and experienced graduate therapists. Our delivery of services provides in-depth psychotherapy and counseling strategies for immediate crisis and long-term health.  The OPC Referral Network offers appointments with experienced psychotherapists and also offers low cost therapy for potential clients provided by the program’s senior training associates. Our experienced OPC therapists can offer a fee on a sliding scale in order for therapy to be accessible to the client’s unique situation.

A potential client will be matched with an OPC therapist and  the client and therapist will set up a free interview. The OPC Referral Network understands that the client and the therapist are  interviewing one another and the potential client is encouraged to honor his or her gut feeling about whether he or she can work with the particular OPC therapist. The OPC Referral Network line does follow through to make sure the right matching takes place.

The Ontario Psychotherapy and Counseling Program is registered with CAPT (the Canadian Association of Psychodynamic Therapy). In two or three years a New College of Psychotherapy and Mental Health Workers will be established and require all psychotherapists and training programs to meet its scope of practice in order to be registered.

It is the intention of the Ontario Psychotherapy and Counseling Program to meet the scope of practice and be registered with the New College of Psychotherapy and Mental Health Workers. It is also our intention that  OPC therapists registered with the OPC Referral Network will meet the regulation requirements as established by the New College of Psychotherapy and Mental Health Workers.
