Affordable, ethical, and thoughtful care — for wherever you are

At OPCC, we believe that meaningful therapy should be available to everyone — not just those with extended benefits or high incomes. That’s why our referral network includes therapists at various stages of practice, offering a range of fees to suit different budgets.

Each therapist in our network is committed to offering high-quality, ethically grounded psychotherapy, regardless of fee level.

What Working with an OPCC Therapist Can Look Like

Examples of how therapy might feel — at every level of experience and cost.

To help you get a better sense of what therapy through our network might look like, we’ve created fictional client stories based on common themes we see in our work. These examples are not based on real individuals but are designed to reflect the kind of care and support you can expect at each level of training.

Student Therapist

Fee Range: $25–$55 per session

Client Scenario:
Leila is a university student struggling with anxiety and academic burnout. She’s never tried therapy before and is unsure if she can afford it. She’s matched with Sam, a senior OPCC student who brings warmth, curiosity, and strong relational presence to their sessions. Sam is not yet registered but works closely with a clinical supervisor, bringing thoughtful questions and guidance to each session.

Student Therapist – RP(Q)

Fee Range: $55–$85 per session

Client Scenario:
Marc, a 39-year-old artist navigating grief after a breakup, is matched with Dani, a student therapist who has achieved RP(Q) status. Dani is in the final stage of OPCC’s five-year training program and offers psychodynamic therapy under active supervision. Their sessions explore childhood patterns, emotional triggers, and creative blocks — helping Marc build insight and self-compassion.

Graduate Therapist – RP(Q)

Fee Range: $85–$120 per session

Client Scenario:
Tariq, a new parent juggling career stress and identity questions, is matched with Zahra, an OPCC graduate and RP(Q). Zahra brings cultural sensitivity, strong clinical grounding, and a focus on long-term change. She works with Tariq on themes of masculinity, intergenerational trauma, and relational boundaries, with regular consultation from a senior supervisor.

Registered Psychotherapist (RP)

Fee Range: $100+ per session

Client Scenario:
Michelle, a 52-year-old professional in recovery from burnout and childhood trauma, is matched with David, a seasoned Registered Psychotherapist. David brings decades of psychodynamic and trauma-informed experience. Their work is layered and long-term, exploring attachment, shame, and the internal narratives that have shaped Michelle’s adult life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are student therapists less qualified?

Student therapists at OPCC are in the final stages of a five-year training program and receive close, ongoing supervision. They offer excellent care and are often especially engaged, reflective, and present in their work.

Can I request a low-cost therapist?

Absolutely. If cost is a concern, simply indicate that on your intake form. We’ll do our best to match you with a student therapist or RP(Q) who offers a sliding scale.

Is therapy with an RP(Q) covered by insurance?

In many cases, yes — especially if your insurance covers services by Registered Psychotherapists. We recommend checking with your provider.

Are fees paid directly to OPCC?

No. All therapy fees are arranged and paid directly to the therapist you’re matched with. They will discuss payment method, frequency, and receipts during your first meeting.

A Note on Accessibility

We understand that financial stress can be a barrier to care — and we don’t want that to prevent you from starting therapy. If you’re unsure what you can afford, let us know in your intake. We’ll do our best to match you with someone whose fee meets your needs.
